Rules and Regulations

At A New Dance Experience, you will find that we do not have a lot of rules and regulations. And you may have noticed that there are no categories for you to mark on your entry forms. That is because all dances are adjudicated… not judged against other routines but… adjudicated on their own merit. Because we are not weighed down by rules and regulations we also don’t disqualify. The only exception to this rule is if a dance does not meet our family or prop safety guidelines (please see below).

Time limits:

2.45 minutes for solos, duos and trios

3.5 minutes for groups

Please call for time limits on Productions

Family Guidelines

Please keep in mind that all dances should be appropriate for family viewing. No obscene lyrics or moves will be allowed.

Props & Safety

Props and/or stage sets are allowed if used as a part of the dance—no fire, knives, weapons, or animals. Motor vehicles cannot be started. Props involving electricity, including colored lights and fog must be UL approved, portable, and self-contained.

Do not use or throw props on or off stage that might cause damage or leave a residue, such as liquids, gels, aerosols, glitters, powders, etc. Stage must be returned to its original pre-performance condition within 30 seconds. All props must be free standing and may not be attached to any apparatus or stage rigging. Choreography that allows any dancer to be physically placed more than 6 feet off the ground of any scenic piece or prop could be considered hazardous.

Music:

We accept music on either individual CD’s or flash drive (all music one flash drive please). Ipods will be used as a back up means only.
